In more than 20 years of experience in the Information and Communications Technology sector, I’ve found that pairing skills acquired elsewhere with a new environment is a matter of demonstrating, generally via real-time, on-the-spot tests, which is the best way to show would-be employers and recruiters that such skills are real and readily applicable.

By showing creativity in transforming skills into solutions and then adjusting those solutions to the new environment’s product, mission, and strategy, the practiced hand may immediately be identifiable as an asset rather than a charge.
